“THE GALLOPING NAG”

Description: This traditional jig is also known as The Black Nag. It was first published in The Dancing Master in 1686. A jig is a lively folk dance that originated in England in the 16th century. It quickly became a very popular dance form and its use spread out across Europe. Jigs are characterised by a rollicking “3 per beat” feel (in this piece I simplified the time signature so that we have 3 beats per measure/bar).

Level: Early Elementary (what does this mean?)
