“SPRING”

Description: This is the swan theme from the ballet Swan Lake, composed between 1875 and 1876 by Pyort Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The ballet tells the story of Princess Odette and her companions. They have been turned into swans by an evil magician but at night they change back to human form. Prince Siegfried meets Odette at the lake and is captivated by her. She explains that he must swear his undying love to her to break the spell. He is tricked by the magician though and the spell is made permanent. In the final act they decide to die together. It’s a rather sad storyline but the music is beautiful! Play it very expressively and delicately.
