“DANSE MACABRE”

Description: This orchestral tone poem by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. The piece is set on Halloween night. According to legend, Death appears at midnight every year on Halloween. Death calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him by playing on his fiddle. The skeletons dance for him until dawn when a rooster crow signals their return to the grave. Try for a swirling, intense sound.
