Gustav Cornelius Gurlitt (1820-1901) was a German composer. His output was prolific, ranging from songs and teaching pieces to operas, cantatas, and symphonies. His teaching pieces for piano are particularly noteworthy.
These descriptive little lessons are great for coordination and developing a refined singing tone. This collection features what I consider to be the “best” pieces in the book. I have edited pieces 1-12 to:
- make them longer
- explore a wider range on the instrument
- allow for more dynamic variation
I have included the original scores so that you can easily see what I have changed.
