Description: This wispy piece in D major features a 4/4 time signature at a slow tempo, use of the sustain pedal, hands crossing, rubato and highly expressive playing. It was first published in “Scenes of Childhood” and can be played as part of the “Conquering Time and Space” suite with Fortress March. If you are playing the two pieces as a suite, perform Fortress March, continue on to Astral Air but keep the sustain pedal down until the first pedal change in Astral Air. After completing Astral Air, repeat Fortress March.
